I was invited to a birthday party for a......1.5 year old?!?

Is this common now??? Seems bizarre to me. They had a b-day party for their daughter at 1 year and will have another at 2 years. It says nothing about *not* brining a gift. What do you think about this? Sounds like there are about 30 people/kids invited........
