Should I make the first move?

I've been dating this guy for almost 2 months, but we haven't kissed yet! I really want too, but idk if he does because he hadn't yet. His friend asked me about it a little while ago, but he's a retard and I know my bf wouldn't do put him up to it. We've hugged and help hands, but I really want my first kiss! I know it sounds shallow, but it's true. He's my first bf, so I'm not really good at this stuff, and I haven't been kissed since I was 6 by a greasy guy. I'm also pretty shy until I get to know someone, and he's shy around me so I get quiet and its like an endless loop. How do I know wether he wants to or not? Should I swallow my fears and just go with it? Or how do I make him know what I want, without saying it? I'm terrified he'll push me away, or I wont do it right, or I'll make myself look stupid!!
