My comps cd drive is not working...i think.

i put in a cd that i burned on this comp to watch a sideshow i made but nothing comes up on auto play so i click on the cd drive in my computer to open it up it i starts up the drive and "prepare blank disc" pops up. i cant open it up in WMP or itunes or quicktime. any advice is greatly appreciated.
