Is there a type of virtual reality sort of like in heir apperent?

my friend says that she went to a place where she played a virtual reality game where she says she was put in a sort of bubble thing and put a thing over her eyes, and she said she was asleep or something like that and she played the game like she was actually living it. I want to know if she is just lying to me or if this is really the truth, and if it is the truth can I have the website to this place. I would really love for this to be real.
