When people film movies where the story is from many years ago,..like,...?

Junkers are painted and polished to look like the primary car used, in" Christine" , they used a whole bunch of cars to represent one on screen, that way it looked like the main car kept repairing itself. they just have to look good on camera, noise can be fixed in post, they just need to look right and be operable
